This past month has been an exciting one for me. I received the art for two different books due to come out next year. I’m over the moon with excitement.

In March 2014, my picture book for young readers (ages 4-8), BALLPARK, will be released by Amazon Publishing. I just reviewed the lovely illustrations created by the very talented Carlynn Whitt – they look great! She captured the fun and energy of the story in which a boy and his grandfather experience the simple joy of spending a day together at the ballpark. From arriving at the park and seeing the huge stadium, to singing the national anthem, and cracking peanuts while taking in the action – her illustrations are marvelous. This was a review of the final illustrations – so we are getting that much closer to production of the book. View Carlynn’s fresh and energetic artistry at carlynnwhitt.wordpress.com

Later in the fall next year, my nonfiction picture book for young readers (ages 4-8), SWEET DREAMS, WILD ANIMALS!, will be published by Mountain Press Publishing. Artist Laurie Caple produced the first sketches for this bedtime book about animals and their unique sleep habits. The sweet, dreamy quality of her sketches was the perfect fit for this bedtime storybook. Take a look at her work at www.lauriecaple.com to see her beautiful portfolio.

How lucky am I to have these two amazing artists portray my words on the page . . . I’m still pinching myself! 2014 will be a banner year 🙂
